Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-25
This policy explains what happens to your data when you use ToolForUser. The short version: the tools process your files and text inside your own browser, and we do not collect or store them.
1. Files and text you use with the tools
All tools on this site run locally in your web browser using JavaScript, WebAssembly and built-in browser features such as Canvas, Web Crypto and Web Workers. When you select a file or type text into a tool:
- the file is read from your device into your browser's memory
- processing (compressing, converting, merging, hashing, formatting, …) happens on your device
- results are created in memory and saved to your device when you click a download button
- the content of your files and text is not uploaded to our servers or to any third party, and is not stored by us
Closing or reloading the page discards the data held by the tool. You can verify this behaviour yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab and use a tool. You will see the site's own code files being downloaded and small page-view reports to Cloudflare Web Analytics (see section 5), but no request carrying your file or text.
2. Data stored in your browser
The site stores your colour-theme choice (light or dark) in your browser's local storage so it is remembered on your next visit. This value never leaves your device and you can remove it by clearing the site data in your browser. The site itself does not set tracking cookies.
3. Hosting and technical logs
The website is delivered by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information that is necessary to deliver web pages and protect them from abuse, such as your IP address, browser type, the requested URL and the time of the request. This is handled by Cloudflare as a service provider; see the Cloudflare privacy policy. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies in some situations. We do not use these logs to identify individual visitors.
4. Advertising
This site does not currently display advertising. We may introduce advertising provided by Google AdSense in the future to cover running costs. If we do, this section will be updated and the following will apply. Advertising is always separate from the tools and has no access to the files or text you process.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Google may collect information such as your IP address, device identifiers and browsing activity for this purpose. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google in Google Ads Settings, and from personalised advertising by other participating vendors at www.aboutads.info.
- Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a consent message before personalised ads are shown, and some US states provide additional opt-out rights. Where required, these choices are presented by a Google-certified consent management platform.
5. Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how the site is used, for example which pages are visited most and how quickly they load. When a page loads, a script from Cloudflare (static.cloudflareinsights.com) sends Cloudflare page-level information such as the page address, the page you came from, your browser, operating system and device type, your country and page-load performance measurements. We only see aggregated statistics, not individual visitors.
According to Cloudflare, Web Analytics does not use cookies or local storage and does not fingerprint visitors by their IP address or browser details. It does not collect the content of the files or text you process with the tools. Blocking the script, for example with a content blocker, does not affect the tools. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
6. External links
Some pages link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites; please read their policies.
7. Children
The site is a general-audience service and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your rights
Because we do not collect or store the content you process and do not maintain user accounts, we generally hold no personal data about you. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California) you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data. For data processed by Cloudflare or Google, please use the options those companies provide. For anything else, contact us using the details below.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when advertising is enabled or a new feature changes how data is handled. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed.
