About the Sign PDF
Sign PDF puts your handwritten signature on a PDF without printing and scanning it. Draw the signature with a mouse, finger or pen, type your name in one of three handwriting fonts, or upload a photo of your signature on paper. Then place it on any page, move it and resize it until it sits on the signature line.
Everything happens in your browser. The PDF and your signature are not uploaded, and the signature is not stored – close the page and it is gone.
How to use it
- Click “Choose a PDF file” or drag the PDF onto the box.
- Under “Create your signature”, choose Draw, Type or Upload. Draw in the box, type your name and pick a style, or choose a photo of your signature.
- Click “Use this signature”.
- Go to the page you want to sign with “Previous page” and “Next page”, then click “Place signature”.
- Drag the signature onto the line and drag its corner handle to resize it. With the keyboard, use the arrow keys to move it and + or − to resize it.
- Repeat for other pages if needed – for example initials on every page – and click “Save signed PDF”.
Features
- Three ways to sign: Draw with a mouse, finger or stylus, type your name in a handwriting font, or upload a picture of your signature.
- Clean uploads: The white paper around a photographed signature is made transparent, so only the ink shows on the page.
- Place it exactly: Move and resize each signature on a large page view; it lands in the PDF exactly where you put it, also on rotated pages.
- Initials on many pages: Place the same signature on as many pages as you need, or create a second one for initials.
- Nothing is stored: Your signature exists only in this browser tab and is never uploaded or saved for later.
Examples
Signing a rental agreement
Upload a photo of your signature, place it on the last page above “Tenant”, and save the signed PDF to send back by e-mail.
Initialling every page
Type your initials, pick a style, and place them in the bottom corner of each page of a contract before signing the last page.
Approving a form on a phone
Open the PDF on your phone, draw your signature with a finger, drag it onto the form and save it.
Limitations and notes
- This adds a visual electronic signature – an image of your signature. It is not a certificate-based digital signature that proves who signed and that the file was not changed afterwards.
- Whether a visual signature is legally accepted depends on the recipient and the law of the country; check if you are unsure.
- Signing a PDF that already contains a digital signature invalidates that signature. The tool warns you when it finds one.
- The drawing pad needs a mouse, touch screen or pen. If you use only a keyboard, create your signature with Type or Upload instead.
- Signatures are not saved. To sign another document later, create the signature again.
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a legally valid signature?
It is a simple electronic signature: an image of your signature placed on the document. Many everyday agreements accept it, but some contracts and authorities require a certificate-based digital signature. When in doubt, ask the recipient.
Are my PDF and signature uploaded?
No. Both stay in your browser. The signed PDF is created on your device, and nothing is sent to a server or stored.
Can others remove or copy my signature from the PDF?
The signature becomes part of the page content, like a pasted image. PDF editors can still move or copy images, so treat a signed PDF like a signed paper copy and send it only to the intended recipient.
How do I get a clean signature from a photo?
Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen, take the photo in good light without shadows, and keep “Remove white background” turned on. The tool crops the picture to the ink automatically.
Can I type my name in Korean or another language?
Yes. Latin letters use the chosen handwriting font and Korean uses Nanum Pen Script. Other scripts are drawn with a font installed on your device.
