About the Age Calculator
The age calculator works out exactly how old someone is in years, months and days, from the date of birth to today or to any other date. It also shows when the next birthday is, how many days are left until then, and the age in total months, weeks, days and hours.
For Korean users it shows the traditional counting age (세는 나이, also called Korean age) and the year age (연 나이) next to the age in full years (만 나이), which Korean law has used since June 2023.
The calculation counts whole calendar days in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded or saved.
How to use it
- Enter the date of birth.
- Leave "Age on" at today, or pick another date to see the age on that day, for example on a deadline or at an event.
- Read the age in years, months and days and the next birthday under it. Use Copy to copy the age.
- Look below for the totals in months, weeks, days and hours and the weekday of birth.
- If the birthday is 29 February, choose whether it falls on 1 March or 28 February in years without 29 February.
Features
- Exact age: Full years, months and days, counted the way people celebrate birthdays: the age goes up on the birthday itself.
- Next birthday: The date and weekday of the next birthday, the days left, and the age then. On the birthday itself it says so.
- Age in other units: Total months, weeks and days lived, and hours at 24 hours per day.
- Korean age and year age: The counting age, which starts at 1 and grows every 1 January, and the year age, which is the current year minus the birth year.
- Leap-day birthdays: For people born on 29 February, choose 1 March (used in Korea and the UK, for example) or 28 February as the birthday in common years.

How old am I?
Enter 17 May 1990 to see 36 years, 5 months and 12 days on 29 October 2026, and that the next birthday is 200 days away.
Age on a certain date
Set "Age on" to the start of a school year or a sports season to check an age limit on that day.
Korean age
Someone born on 31 December 1990 is 35 in full years on 1 January 2026, 36 in year age and 37 in counting age.
Limitations and notes
- Only dates are used, not the time or the time zone of birth; total hours assume 24 hours per day from midnight.
- Dates use the Gregorian calendar, also before it was introduced.
- Years from 1 to 9999 are supported.
- Rules for legal ages differ between countries and laws. Check the rule that applies to you for official purposes.
Frequently asked questions
When does someone born on 29 February turn a year older?
In years with 29 February, on that day. In other years the law differs between countries: many, including Korea and the UK, count 1 March, others 28 February. The calculator uses 1 March unless you choose 28 February.
What is Korean age?
Korean age, or counting age, is 1 at birth and goes up by one every 1 January. Since June 2023 Korean law and official documents use the age in full years (만 나이) instead, which is the main result here.
What is year age?
Year age (연 나이) is the current year minus the birth year. Some Korean laws, such as those on military service and youth protection, still use it.
How are months and days counted?
Whole months are counted from the day of birth. If a month has no such day, for example 31 April, the last day of the month is used, and the remaining days are counted after that.
