About the World Clock & Time Zone Converter

The World Clock shows the time in several places at once, next to your own time zone: the hour, the date, how many hours ahead or behind each place is, and whether it is on daylight saving time. Use it to call family abroad at a good hour, to plan a meeting across offices or to check when a live event starts where you are.

You choose places by country rather than by city. Your browser gives the country and time zone names in the page’s language, and countries with more than one time zone, such as the United States, Canada, Russia or Australia, let you pick the zone. Each time zone shows the same clock for all its cities, so one line covers them all.

Switch to "Pick a time" to convert a time: enter a date and a time in one place, and every line shows that same moment in its own time zone. Nothing is stored in your browser; your list is kept in the page address, so a bookmark opens it again.

How to use it

  1. Your own time zone is always the first line. Below it are three example places.
  2. To add a place, choose a country or region, then its time zone if it has several, and press Add. You can show up to 12 places.
  3. Each line shows the time and date there, the UTC offset, the difference from your time and the next clock change within a year.
  4. To convert a time, switch to "Pick a time", enter the date and the time and choose the place they belong to. Press "Back to now" to see the live clocks again.
  5. Press "Copy times" to copy every line as text, or "Copy link" to share the same list and time.

Features

  • Names in your language: Country and time zone names come from your browser in the page’s language, so there is no city list to search.
  • Daylight saving time: Each line says when it is on daylight saving time and when its clocks next go forward or back.
  • Convert any moment: Pick a date and time in one place and see it everywhere else, between 1970 and 2099.
  • Tomorrow and yesterday: A place across the date line shows that its date is a day ahead of or behind yours.
  • Private and shareable: The clock runs in your browser and stores nothing. The list lives in the page address, ready to bookmark or share.

Examples

A call with family

Add the country your family lives in to see whether it is morning or night there before you call.

A meeting across offices

Pick 10:00 on a January day in New York and see that it is 15:00 in London and midnight in Seoul.

A live stream abroad

Enter the start time in the organiser’s time zone to see when it begins where you are.

Limitations and notes

  • Places are chosen by country and time zone, not by city name.
  • On the day the clocks go forward, a skipped time such as 02:30 is shown as the time after the gap; on the day they go back, a time that happens twice is shown as the first one. The page says so when it happens.
  • Times are worked out with your browser’s own time zone rules. An old browser may not know a recent change of rules in some country.
  • Dates from 1970 to 2099 can be converted.
  • The list is kept in the page address only; clearing it or opening the page from a search starts again with the example places.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I choose a country instead of a city?

All cities in one time zone show the same clock, so a country and its time zone are enough. The names come from your browser in your language, which works for every country without a separate city list.

Does it handle daylight saving time?

Yes. Each line is worked out for the exact moment with your browser’s time zone rules, says when the place is on daylight saving time and shows the next change within a year.

What happens with a time that does not exist?

When the clocks go forward an hour, the times in between never happen. The converter moves such a time forward by the gap and tells you. A time that happens twice when the clocks go back is shown as the first one.

How do I share my list?

Press "Copy link". The link holds your places and the time you picked, so whoever opens it sees the same clocks in their own time zone.

Is anything saved?

No. Nothing is uploaded or stored in your browser. The list is part of the page address only.
